Afghan Medical Complex: A New Era in Cancer Care

The Afghan Medical Complex (AMC) is a groundbreaking initiative set to transform cancer care in Afghanistan. As the country’s first dedicated oncology hospital, AMC is being developed to provide advanced, affordable, and accessible treatment for thousands of patients who currently face enormous barriers to care.

Inspired by real stories of suffering—like that of young Mahgula, who was forced to seek treatment abroad—AMC is rising from the ground up as a symbol of hope and healing. Strategically located on 22,000 square meters of secured land outside Kabul, the hospital will offer comprehensive services—from early detection to chemotherapy, surgery, palliative care, and patient education.

This bold vision is being realized through the leadership of the Atta Welfare Foundation (AWF) and the collaborative efforts of local and international experts in oncology, hospital planning, architecture, and healthcare delivery. Together, they are working to ensure that AMC meets global standards and serves as a model for sustainable, life-saving care in Afghanistan.

AMC is more than a hospital—it’s a national promise. A promise to treat, to educate, and to save lives—right here at home.

We are committed to serving the most vulnerable with dignity, accessibility, and excellence, while establishing a national model for affordable and patient-centered oncology care.

our vision

To build a healthier, more resilient Afghanistan where every individual—regardless of income or location—has access to life-saving cancer care. Our Founder

founder

I am Attaullah Shigiwol, founder of the Atta Welfare Foundation (AWF). Growing up in war-torn Afghanistan, I saw how lack of healthcare, education, and basic services devastated lives. That experience became my motivation to act.

What began as a personal effort has grown into a nationwide mission. AWF now leads projects that provide clean water, shelter, education, and support for widows and orphans.

Our most urgent initiative is the Afghan Medical Complex (AMC)—a dedicated cancer hospital bringing affordable, life-saving care to those who need it most.

My goal is simple: to restore dignity, build resilience, and create a healthier future for Afghanistan.
